Hi Heuhen,

I thought that was a derivation of a WWII MG42? Also curious as to what the rail could be for...

In Norway the MG3, can be mounted on a twin foot, triple foot, AA-mount or on vehicle and or as team weapon as in infantery. All Norwegian MG3 is modified with a different pipe and able to handle other caliber ammunitions.

Fun fact: Many Norwegian MG3 still have the markings of the "Third Reich".

Clearly something to be said for both the workmanship and the maintenance, then...

I think also Norwegians had MP40 until 1990's, right? Border Guard was the last user if remember.

They are still effective, so why not use them?

Where would you buy the spare parts? Last time I checked there hasn't been any serious production since the forties.

The MG3 were not produced in the 40s, but in the 60s.

The MG3 was from the 60's, but the machine gun it was based on and shared many parts with... 40's Thus Norwegian MG3 have the markings of the "Third Reich".

How about a more substantial upgrade to another WWII workhorse?
