Ok Bill, back to topic!



One Rotodyne in the colours of British Air Ferries flying from cross-Channel car ferry duties in the 1960s.
The first of a few Kaman-built versions, here is a New York Airways example, the first airline to really show any interest in the Rotodyne. Had things gone better they may have had a fleet of between 5 and 25. Note the American turboprops on this American built example.

This just gets better I know this has to be asked, but why did the Rotodyne fail? At a guess, the consolidation of Fairey into Westland wouldn't have helped, what with the Westminster, Belverdere etc.

I think it was the usual British thing, MONEY, or lack of it.

That's not necessary a British thing. All countries suffer from it, some more some less. The correct way of allocating limited funds is the true 21th century science.
