Sorry for ruing up your AU story, but that is the possibility when you redesign a ship that is still a WIP ;)
I like it the way it is. Even if it is a WIP. So I derived the ship from exact that state. You don't have to like it, even if the source is yours.

Sure but the story doesn't add up like this.

The Luedinghausen refitted as Command Cruiser. Complex communication installation, radars for air & sea-monitoring, 3"-aa, 5,5cm-aa. The aft 6"-singles are gone, here is a railsystem for more boats installed. The catapults are gone, replaced by offices and a great conference room above. Turret B is replaced by a 3"-aa-turret, due to weight reduction. The aft deck is now a landing deck for Weserflug VTOLs. Torpedoes are gone. Light aa are 4 3cm-quads only. For CIWS-use six 'Foehn'-launchers are installed. The overall weight remains the same but with the loss of one 11"-turret and the installation of all those radars, especially the radio-mast and the damn heavy 'Wuerzburg-Riese' the top weight is increased noticable. However, the Luedinghausen is no ship of the first line. It's a command cruiser now.

The Nashorn-class monitors see a third ship, more a second batch. The 'Elch' is fitted with a 38cm-turret from the old battlecruiser 'Yorck'. That turrets made the disadvantages of the old 11"-triple vanish. The 38cm-twin made a good job as in the 25 years before on 'Yorck'. The guns where overhauled and good for another 80 shots each.
The usual '46-style aa and radars are installed plus a flight deck for one Weserflug-VTOL. What for on a monitor? In the KM'46-AU the ship might have to do some long missions, maybe it sees even the other side of the world. So an aircraft ain't that wrong.

The second ship of the Nashorn-class, the 'Bueffel' was stopped at 75% ready when the bad performance of the classleader became visible. A request for a seaborn testbed for A4-missiles gave a new value to the ship and it was rebuildt completely. Ready in summer 1945 the ship made 38 testshots with A4s within the next 11 months. While most of the launches were successfull the navy wasn't satisfied with the A4. Too heavy, too big, too sensitivy for shipborn use the A4 was denied. However, the Bueffel was the first ship to launch strategic missiles from a floating base. Later the ship was a testbed for the A20-'Hammerfall'-missile. Ironically, the 'Bueffel ended up as target for the first A20 with nuclear warhead.

The classleader 'Nashorn' as looking in 1944. The 11"-triple didn't prove successfull at shore bombing, so the class was immedeately stopped (see earlier posts). 'Nashorn' saw action at 'Sealion' but was retired after three missions for refitting like 'Elch'. The new armistice rendered the ship completely useless and it was disarmed and used as barracks ship.

Nice drawings. i like the A4 missile vessel, wouldnt it be better to have 2 launchers onboard instead of one.

Yes, if this was a ship of the line. But this is just a testbed for a device that lately wasn't chosen.

Incredible series Ashley; this has to be one of the most original AU's on the Forum, and (notwithstanding any critiques) the ships are innovative and impressive - I look forward to more :D
