    Development

Follow-on design of the BPL 1911 g Class. First Far Eastern indigenous large submarine design although based heavily on the earlier Holland-design. Intended to have better performance oceang-going capability. Total of 70 boats were planned under the 1916-17 supplementary naval program but only 6 units were laid down prior the revolution.

    Characteristics

Double-hull design, basically enlarged version of the previous class. Features the new dual purpose 76mm gun which has elevation high enough for anti-aircraft fire.
