    To follow-on the Udil class river gunboats, 8 heavy river monitors were ordered in 1909. These monitors were most powerfull riverine warships in the whole world. Flat and wide hull with 3 twin gun turrets in the centerline. In layout they be reminiscent of dreadnought battleships and were often called "river-dreadnoughts".
